Bylaw Enforcement
Municipal bylaws exist to uphold the quality of life within our community and the enjoyment of our amenities for all. Our bylaws establish standard protocols for activities and maintenance within the District’s legal authority that can impact other residents and visitors.
The goal of our Bylaw Enforcement Officers (BEO) is to maintain compliance (through a complaint-based system) and provide ongoing education, as needed, to ensure this overarching community wellness goal is achieved.
When compliance can’t be met voluntarily, measures of enforcement may be taken. These decisions are at the discretion of Bylaw Enforcement Officer’s and the District of Taylor.
If you have questions or wish to report a potential bylaw violation (complaint), please submit on the form below. Please note the bylaw department will only respond to written complaints for non-traffic violations. Name, address and full contact information is required as we do not accept anonymous complaints. This information is kept confidential unless required to be released by the Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act during court proceedings.
If calling after hours, a message can be left with the afterhours call Centre. A BEO will return the complaint call on the next business day.
District of Taylor’s BEOs are normally only available Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM during regular business hours, excluding holidays.
If your bylaw complaint is of an emergency nature, please call the RCMP by dialing 911.
All other complaints can be filed with the District of Taylor either in person at the District Office or by phone at 250-789-3392 during normal working hours.
